The Speaking Wolf - Miracle of Prophet Muhammad
Miracles are super rare. They’re not something you see every day or for everyone. They’re like secret messages just for prophets, showing that what they say is true. You can’t copy a miracle to try and make a prophet look bad. Miracles are a big part of proving someone is a prophet. Like Imam ash-Shafi^iyy said, “Other prophets had miracles, and Prophet Muhammad had ones that were just as amazing or even better.”
In a special story about Prophet Muhammad, there’s a wolf that actually talked and said that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. It’s a story remembered and shared by Al-Imam Ahmad from what Abu Said Al-Khudriyy told.
According to Abu Said Al-Khudriyy, “Once upon a time, while a shepherd was grazing his sheep in al-Harrah (a mountain with black stones near Al-Madinah), a wolf came to eat one of his sheep.” To keep the wolf from attacking the sheep, the shepherd stood between the wolf and the flock. The wolf spoke to the shepherd while sitting on his tail. “Don’t you fear Allah?” it said. You keep me from the food that Allah has prepared for me.” “What an incredible matter!” exclaimed the shepherd. “A wolf sitting on its tail is speaking in human language!” “Let me tell you about something even more amazing,” the wolf added. The Messenger of Allah is between the two Harrahs telling the people about the news of the previous nations.”
The shepherd hurried to Al-Madinah, settled his things, and went straight to the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, sharing the tale of the talking wolf. The Prophet addressed the crowd and told the shepherd, “Stand up and tell everyone what you saw.” As the shepherd recounted the wolf’s words, the Prophet confirmed, “This shepherd told the truth.” He explained that a sign of the Day of Judgment would be animals speaking to humans. And he swore by Allah, who guides his soul, that the Day of Judgment wouldn’t come until creatures talked to us.
This is one of the Prophet’s miracles. It consists of an animal speaking and attesting to the truthfulness of the Prophet and his status as Allah’s Messenger. It also contains some of the Day of Judgment signs. Among these signals is the fact that when the Day of Judgment approaches, the animals begin to communicate with the people. This occurs before the Day of Judgment. Which will happen very shortly.
Dear Muslim brothers, fear Allah and prepare for the Day of Judgment, and never waste your time in disobedience to Allah. The successful person does not indulge in worldly pleasures throughout his life but rather enlightens his grave with good deeds before entering it.
